The following excerpts about Jesus Christ are taken from an address to the Harvard Divinity School in March by Robert L. Millet, former dean of . Introduction The claim that Jesus Christ was divine is one of the most fundamental doctrines of the Christian church. It is upon this foundation that the church has been built, and upon which a number of other vital doctrines take their stand. It is therefore imperative that Christians are able to adequately defend the divinity.

There are several places in the New Testament where Jesus is referred to as God. For example, Peter referred to “our God and Savior Jesus Christ” in 2 Peter Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours (2 Peter ). In the book it was made clear that Jesus was deity up until the time of His birth to Mary. John writes in his gospel: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning” (John ,2 NIV). 2 Responses to “Deity versus Divinity of Jesus Christ”.

The Bible studies in the Jeremiah Bible Studies Series bring Scripture to life in twelve lessons filled with teachings from Dr. David Jeremiah, one the most widely viewed and respected Bible teachers today. Each volume includes study questions, commentary, and reflections to help readers understand what the Bible means to them John: The Divinity of Christ, John's Brand: Thomas Nelson. Can the miracles we read about in the scriptures prove the Divinity of Jesus? Can we prove they actually occurred? We can – and do. What was unique about His miracles? Is there any historical evidence, outside of the scriptures, that verify Jesus was a real person who lived in the first century – and what he did? There are, in fact, several.

Then he healed the paralytic (Matthew ). Jesus proved that he had the power to forgive sins by exercising power to heal. The divinity of Jesus Christ book The two actions had to go together for one to be proof of the other. Both had to flow from Christ’s own essence as God.

From the four canonical Gospels through the book of Acts and the Pauline Epistles, Jesus is not only seen as the Messiah (or Christ) but also equated with God Himself. The apostle Paul refers to the divinity of Christ when he calls Jesus our "great God and Savior" (Titus ) and even says that Jesus existed in the "form of God" prior to His.

The Divinity of Christ. Modernism has laid down two fundamental challenges to the doctrine of the divinity of Christ, especially as it is expressed in the doctrine of the incarnation.

First, it is wrong. Our growing understanding of the background to the New Testament, the way in which Christian doctrine has developed, the rise of the. Christ’s divinity is shown over and over again in the New example, in John we are told that Jesus’ opponents sought to kill him because he “called God his Father, making himself equal with God.”.

However, the divinity of Jesus is not so easy to see in the other Gospels. Nowhere in Matthew, Mark, or Luke do we ever find Jesus explicitly called “God” like he is in John, so many people today think that these first three present him as a mere : JP Nunez.

Definition and approaches. Christology (from Greek Χριστός Khristós and -λογία, -logia), literally "the understanding of Christ," is the study of the nature (person) and work (role in salvation) of Jesus Christ.

[need quotation to verify] It studies Jesus Christ's humanity and divinity, and the relation between these two aspects; and the role he plays in salvation.

Abstract Since the time of the early church and centuries thereafter, Christian theology in general has always acknowledged the authority of Scripture. However, despite this general acknowledgment, there have been several antagonisms as far as.

David Limbaugh has combined the four books of the Gospels into a single narrative to tell the life and ministry of Jesus/5().

"Jesus on Trial", D. Limbaugh's other book is a 5++ Star book to me because of the verbal ammo it contains substantiating the historical fact of the birth, miracles, divinity, death and resurrection of /5. This uniqueness in the spiritual life of Jesus has lead Christians to see him not only as a human being, but as a human being surrounded with divinity.

The doctrine of Christ's divinity is the central Christian doctrine, for it is like a skeleton key that opens all the others. Christians have not independently reasoned out and tested each of the teachings of Christ received via Bible and Church, but believe them all on his authority.

For if. The Divinity of Christ The Divinity of Christ is one of the most important and vital subjects in the Christian doctrine. Many heresies rose against it in various eras, and the Church confronted them and replied to them.
